PALILULA IS SOLVING THE PROBLEMS IN TIME OF EMERGENCY
8.02.2012

Palilula Municipality has taken and made all appropriate and available activities on its territory to repair the consequences of natural disasters caused by snowfall and very low temperatures. At emergency press conference in Palilula Municipal building, PhD Igor Novakovic and Milan Djurdjevic, Palilula Assembly president spoke about the current state of emergency. The employees in Municipality of Palilula engaged in cleaning and removing heavy snow from pavements and entries to the services of Municipality. Municipal administration of Palilula provided also non stop work - duty of 24 hours in Contact center INFO 48. Palilula citizens can call on the phones 0800 234567, SMS 4826 or over the electronic mail on info48@palilula.eu and report certain problem that appeared in the settlement or a family for the heavy snowfalls. Our communal inspection-according to Milan Djurdjevic words, introduced the duty of 24 hours to authorized services and public communal enterprises for solving terrain problems.

In the last period, with the realization of the project of support of social - jeopardized population of Palilula and cooperation with the Centre for social work the workers of this Municipality visited and offered help to over 4000 citizens and registered all the vulnerable families. The firewood for the whole winter three cubic meters for 50 the most vulnerable families has been shared in the last two months. One number of citizens has been taken into account over the help seen in basic life supplies and house cleaning products.

It is known that we are one of the poorest municipalities in Serbia - said PhD Igor Novakovic, municipal president. We asked the help from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia for the Administration for emergency situations and Directorate for Commodity Reserves for the jeopardized categories of population in old and single households and also families of many members who live in hard conditions under heavy snow. According to the registration from 2002 in Palilula were 40,6 people who were the users of the Centre for social work. During this year registration this number is way higher and we are estimating that over 50 % of the users for this Centre is actually from this territory.

For us the emergency situation is practically every day here says the president. For the introduction of emergency situation in our community we did not need any heavy snow. We are taking care of our population daily and we are actually trying to help them.
After the completion of the project manifested in the form of packets with basics of life, the means of personal hygiene and home care. The snow we have had only worsened the situation on the ground. We have a problem because it significantly increased caloric consumption of fuel, basic nutritional support and interrupted delivery of transport to the most vulnerable households. What offends is the concern that the "emergency" situation, prices for fuel wood increased from 3000 to 5000 RSD. This is for our community a huge difference in price and a huge amount of money that should be provided now. And while we are calling for solidarity, some have tried to take an overnight wealth. Unfortunately, now we can not find the required quantity of firewood.

According to the President Novakovic Municipality tried to get a donation from Srbijašume and private entrepreneurs. No one has so far not reported. We need every cubic meter of firewood - said Igor Novakovic. On the territory of Palilula has a lot of families that would practically with one cubic meter of firewood survive.

We are appealing to private entrepreneurs to call and show us solidarity by providing help in firewood, food basic products. Teams for support to social-jeopardized population of Palilula collected donations will immediately send to people who need it. Palilula Municipality also have the all municipal vehicles for social supplies transportation.
